AFTER-SCHOOL · EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

After school.
A new space
to grow.

OUR EXPERIENCE IN SCHOOLS

A success at BCB.
Now expanding
to other schools.

Our Jiu-Jitsu programme began and is a success at The British College of Brazil (BCB). We work across both campuses with children’s and teens’ groups and are implementing the programme in other schools, with planning aligned to each school’s routines and educational priorities.

THE PURPOSE

Learning happens
on the mat, too.

01

Movement with purpose

Explore balance, coordination and body control through progressive tasks.

02

Learning together

Practise listening, cooperation and respect for a partner’s boundaries.

03

Growing independence

Try, ask questions and learn to recognise personal progress.

These are educational aims of the programme. Every child develops at their own pace.

One session.
Four moments.

A structure that makes the experience familiar while allowing challenges to be adapted to the group. The length of each stage is set during planning.

01

Arrive and get ready

A welcome, shared expectations and preparation for movement.

02

Explore and learn

Games and demonstrations introduce the lesson theme at an age-appropriate level.

03

Practise with a partner

Guided tasks and adapted challenges, with pauses and feedback from the coach.

04

Reflect and finish

Revisit learning, recognise effort and prepare for collection.

A PATHWAY IN STAGES

An experience that grows
with the student.

Kids 1

5–8 years

Kids 2

9–12 years

Teens 1

12–14 years

Teens 2

15–17 years

At age 12, the team helps determine whether Kids 2 or Teens 1 is appropriate, considering school grouping and the student’s experience.

Explore the modules

Planned with the school.
Clear for families.

Before a group opens, we work through the practical details that help the programme fit school life.

Groups and calendar

Age groups, places, frequency, session length and term dates.

Space and supervision

Practice area, mats, staffing, participation rules and care procedures.

Arrival and collection

The transition from class, authorised collection and school transport arrangements.

Family communication

Registration, fees, uniform, absences, make-up arrangements and a contact for questions.

AT THE END OF EVERY TERM

One gathering.
Many achievements.

A championship, belt and stripe assessments, and time to look back at the progress made. The end of term is part of learning.

01

End-of-term championship

At the end of every school term, we hold a championship where students put their learning into practice. Respecting an opponent, handling the result and recognising effort are part of the experience.

02

Belt and stripe assessments

The end of term also includes belt and stripe assessments. Coaches review each student’s technique, readiness and conduct, supported by the methodology’s assessment checklists.

03

Achievements shared

Students, coaches and families share this milestone. The team and each school communicate dates, the event format and participation arrangements.

Promotion is individual: attending the event or winning a match does not guarantee a new belt or stripe. Progression depends on the coach’s assessment.

Ask about the next end-of-term event

Before the first session.

Does my child need experience?

The programme includes an introduction for beginners. The team discusses the appropriate group with the family and school.

Is this part of the curriculum?

After-school is an optional extracurricular activity. Curriculum integration is a separate proposal developed with school leaders.

Are sessions taught in English?

The language of instruction is agreed with each school. This website is available in English and Portuguese; please confirm the language of the group before registering.

What are the times and fees?

Dates, session length, frequency, places and fees depend on the school and term. Request your campus information before making a payment.

What should students bring?

Confirm the uniform with the coach, bring a named water bottle and follow school guidance on hygiene, personal items and changing clothes.

Does an enquiry confirm a place?

No. WhatsApp starts a conversation about the programme. Enrolment depends on the group, availability and the school’s registration process.
